suicide...

Suicide is a major problem in the word today, especially among teens.Every year, as many as half a million teens & young adults attempt suicide, and whats worse? more than 5000 actually succeed.

People who commit suicide, generally are suffering from major depression. The people who are at the greatest risk are those who have attempted suicide before, and drugs and alcohol may be another reason.

Besides talking about suicide, there are a lot of other hints that a person is planning suicide. These include;

* Change in behavior

* Drug and/or alcohol abuse

* Change in eating and sleeping habits

* Persisent boredom, difficulty concentrating

* Talking about committing suicide

* Withdrawal from family or friends

* Unusual neglect of personal appearance

* Depression

* Giving away of possessions

* Expressions of hopelessness, excessive guilt

Firstly, listen. Don't brush off a Suicide threat. Don't iscolate them, draw the person in, surround them with love and reassurance that THINGS WILL GET BETTER!!

Make sure the person realises that there are people who can help them, and want to help them. <school councellors, teachers, trusted adults, family members, friends> whatever it takes to make them realise that they don't have to carry this burden alone.

Professional help should be sought straight away. Start with your local gp. They will have number of experience people you can contanct.

It is important to get help as soon as you realise, before its too late. Keeping this a secret can and will ruin people's lives.

For some people suicide is a cry for help. In reality they don't wanna die, they just want to run away from their problems.

Always remember suicide is not the answer to solve all your problems. At the time is may seem like the only way out from their emotional pain. I know that it can be really f**cking hard to let out your feelings. I know that you feel like shit, but i was there too, so don't feel alone, because you are not. Get help, or just talke to someone, <even me>. Losing a GREAT person like you will just absolutely ruin other people's lives.
